Lighta6000 announces his arrival to the music scene with new anthem ‘Been There, Done That’

CHICAGO, IL – Lighta6000 is a hip hop artist with the kind of pedigree and experience that one would expect comes with superstardom. But this under-the-radar musician who has rubbed shoulders with some of the industry’s greats for many years – such as Diplo, Skrillix, ASAP Rocky and Bankroll Fresh, to name a few – is just starting to get his name out there. With the release of his new single “Been There, Done That”, it’s highly unlikely he’ll continue to go unrecognized.

This first solo project is a powerhouse single that is already making waves throughout the Midwest and should hit East and West Coast audiences soon. Recorded at 2Chains Studio in Atlanta, the single is an anthem for anybody who has ever had to do something that they didn’t want to do. Underneath a pounding club beat, Lighta6000 weaves lyrics that inspire others to embrace their obligations while chasing their dreams.

“That song has a history and a weight to it,” he said. “There were so many big names in the studio when I recorded it. I made it three days before Bankroll Fresh died, and it was the last time he was in that studio. I got locked up for a year about a week after I recorded that song too, so a lot of people who knew about it and had heard it once or twice have been waiting a long time for this song to hit the streets. It’s the perfect first song for me to release but I already have five more singles and three mixtapes in the works yet to come later this year.”
Though his home base is in Chicago, Lighta6000 has been building an audience in Atlanta and other parts of the Deep South as well. His name derives from a nickname he got from friends in school during his high school years. He recalls making a fashion statement with his wardrobe during those teenage years when he would wear bright skinny jeans paired with Chuck Taylors and gold chains every day.

“People started calling me Highlighter,” he said. “Every day, I was wearing bright green or yellow or white or pink pants with the gold chain every time. I also started rapping a lot during that time and so people would always refer to me as Highlighter. When I got serious about my music, I decided to keep ‘Lighta’ but I wanted to put some numbers on it like Andre3000. My goal is to be three times more successful than what he was so I added ‘6000’. Plus, that shows the level of quality I’m gonna bring with my music. Lighta6000 is full force. It’s the ultimate number. And it shows people that I’m going to Live Ill and Go Hard Til Absent.”
