Star Money - Fix It

Star Money - Fix It

Versatile Rapper, Star Money Delivers Music And More Despite Adversity

JOLIET, IL – Songwriter, rapper and entrepreneur, Star Money brings his savage style of Rap straight out of the trenches. His listeners experience genuine testimony about where Star Money comes from. The rhyme, rhythm and chemistry of his flow connect with listeners as he speaks about the struggle.

Chosen from a field of 19 competitors judged off stage performance, crowd reaction and social media response, Star Money signed with Ice Wata Records in April of 2019. He had started out on his own independent label, Star Money Gang Entertainment, but with Ice Wata now working with Empire Records, Star Money is enjoying a two for one!

The first single of this new distribution deal is called “Fix It” (featuring Mud Dollaz). Released in mid June, the track talks about bouncing back, readjusting and rebuilding from life’s challenges.

Star Money’s songs relate to one another, but each has its own unique feel. “Stick Out,” another song released recently, features Chicago rapper Memo 600. Doing well, they rap about watching out for and defending themselves against the opposition.

A prolific creator, Star Money has dropped several other singles this year, including “Bando” which talks about staying focused and hustling to make money from nothing, and “Cash.” Starting fresh after his release from prison, Star Money was not looking for handouts, and “Cash” talks about getting the money he needed through his own efforts.

Although he didn’t get serious about his music career until he was 18, Star Money has been rapping since he was 10 or 11 years old. At that time, an older man (Reggie Loc) from his neighborhood put out an album and became Star Money’s role model. A major influence on Star Money’s career, Reggie passed away in 2015.

Star Money is strategizing globally through a number of enterprises. Besides having his own record label, he has a successful jewelry business, Star Money Diamonds x Grills. Featuring custom chains, grills, rings, watches and bracelets that are a popular aspect of Hip Hop culture, Star Money also initiates music collaborations through this business. “What I’m trying to do,” Star Money said, “is show the world that, no matter what you’re going through, if you keep focused on your dreams, you can make it.”

He has personally kept going after tragedy and personal loss. His mother, Tamala Clayton who passed away last year, was the inspiration for his next independent project, “Tammy World.” Star Money also plans to shoot music videos for “Fix It” and “Stick Out” in the coming weeks. He is also working on an Ice Wata Compilation album titled “Ice Wata Army Front Line.” Slated to drop on August 15, this will be the first album released by Empire Records under the Ice Wata Records label. Be sure to check out Star Money’s music, available now on all major digital platforms.

Spaceballz - Uber Everywhere

Spaceballz - Uber Everywhere

Southern Trap Artist brings joy to the world with new sound of Hip Hop

DALLAS, TX – Inspiration can strike from pretty much anywhere for young up-and-coming artist Dylan Robison, better known by his stage name SpaceBallz. Take his latest single “Uber Everywhere” for instance. Inspiration for the song struck one day while sitting in class at high school. He was a senior and hated school – so much so that while sitting in class that day he decided he was done. He stood up, said goodbye to his teacher and classmates and left. He went home and wrote the song “Uber Everywhere” in five minutes and in less than three months, he had tens of thousands of streams online and a budding new music career.

That’s the way SpaceBallz lives his life and his music is a reflection of that organic reaction to the world around him. Raised on the West Coast and a child of the foster care system, SpaceBallz saw his fair share of hard times. He and his fiancé even spent about eight months living homeless in their car before his music began to take off. Now at only age 21, he has moved to Texas and he and his fiancé have a son. And he’s making major strides in the music industry. His unique blend of Trap and Pop culture make him a voice for his generation with a sound that’s equal parts progressive and relevant.

“I’m a trap artist and I talk about things I do in my music,” he said. “Real stuff, not things I don’t do or haven’t experienced. I write all my own music because I’m real, not fake. I don’t care about social media or anything that requires you to put on a façade. All I care about is making good music. This single is a great example of that. When I wrote it, I didn’t care about anything anymore and I knew that one day I was going to get famous and make money off my music. I put that in my head and I haven’t stopped.”

SpaceBallz said that like many other successful artists, music saved him during his turbulent youth. Foster care left its share of scars on his life, and music – everything from Bob Dylan to Slipknot – helped him overcome those hardships by way of providing an escape. He went through shelters and homes for five years during which time he taught himself to play the piano, clarinet and saxophone. He’s worked hard to develop his own unique sound and style, and he hopes that his music will become inspirational for other people in similar ways that music was inspirational to him.

“I just want to bring joy,” he said. “So many people are angry these days, and if they can hear my music and laugh and get out of that mood then that’s what I want. There needs to be more love in the world than hate, and too many people are showing hate these days. I want my music to help people feel a sense of joy and feel that it’s OK.”

Gamebr8ker Releases New Single ‘Put in Wrk‘

BAILEYS CROSSROADS, VA— Rising Rapper and Producer, Marcus Wade, AKA Gamebr8ker releases his newest single “Put in Wrk” and is already receiving incredible feedback. After dropping his first album “Inspired By You” earlier this year and reaching thousands of streams on Spotify with tracks such as “Moonwalk” and “Adventure”, “Put in Wrk” switches up from his normal love and R&B sound to tell a story of pushing others to get past transgressions and hard times, to stay focused, and be reminded that you will succeed. This beat encompasses influences of a street hustle vibe, and with that, Gamebr8ker’s flow is incredibly straightforward and motivating. “I want to remind people to go get it. If you don’t put in the work, you ain’t getting the return,” he says.

Gamebr8ker’s story is an inspirational one to say the least. “I’ve had my share of hardships,” he says when referring to the loss of three siblings and experiencing a house fire, “But that doesn’t mean that you need to stay down forever. You have to focus and put in the work needed to rise. Don’t let the world get you down.”

Until venues reopen again, Gamebr8ker is broadcasting live sets on IG Live and competing in Rap competitions on the Mico app. He’s spending as much time as he can on social media connecting with his fans.

Check out the full music video and lyrics video for “Put in Wrk” releasing on July 24th.

Diverse - B.B.Benson

Diverse – B.B.Benson

New single from West Coast artist Diverse is sure to get listeners amped

HAYWARD, CA – A new single from West Coast artist Diverse is bouncy and aggressive and fun –the perfect summer song for a year in which people are longing to have a good time. The feel-good vibes of “B.B. Benson” perfectly present this young up-and-coming artist to the world in ways that unabashedly show off his ability to deliver smooth flows with confident lyrics underneath an energy that is infectious. This song is guaranteed to get listeners amped.

“When I’ve got something to say, I gotta let it go and let it flow,” Diverse said. “It took me 40 minutes to make this song because it just came out so easy. Me and my boy were in the studio working and after we finished a track we’d been working on for a while he asked if I wanted to make another one. I said sure, and he played me a beat that was super energetic. For some reason, it made me want to whisper which I do at the beginning of the song, and then I come on strong. I’m like water – I can adapt to anything and any beat and I’ll make it my own, and this song is a perfect example of that. Last year, I was doing more melodic and Post Mallone type songs, and this year I’m coming with the hot energetic tracks. I like big-ass crowds and mosh pits and that kind of stuff, and this song is perfect for that kind of energy.”

Diverse first got his start in music at age 12 when he would watch his dad make beats in his studio. By high school, he had learned enough to start creating his own music and when friends and classmates started hearing his creations, they clamored for more. After graduating from high school, he and a friend would spend nearly every waking hour in the studio working on songs and experimenting with new sounds. He dropped his first mixtape in 2016, and then in early 2017 dropped his first album. More and more people began to take notice and he went on tour that year. His music began to be played on the radio and in the years since, he’s put up millions of plays on streaming platforms with his music.

“Diverse isn’t just the name I go by, it’s the type of music I create,” he said. “It’s also my personality and how I hold myself which is different from other people. There are different races in me. I was a jock in high school but also loved drama. I was always different than anybody else and my music is a representation of that. I have different flows on this song – I sound like three or four different people instead of just one – but I’m always keeping it real. My music will always be that – talking about shit I can talk about and be comfortable with. I want to choose the best version of myself and show that to the world, and I want to inspire people to embrace that about themselves as well. Just be 100 percent honest – that goes a long way and that’s what I want my music to be known for at the end of the day.”

theRunawayKiiing - Slow Mo

theRunawayKiiing - Slow Mo

Seasoned artist, theRunawayKiiing launches three-part “RKadia” album with release of “Pt. 1: Pain”

OCEANSIDE, CA – Guitarist, singer, songwriter, and production engineer Daniel Mayer is no newcomer to the music industry. He has been singing and playing the guitar since he was 7 years old. His latest Indie-Trap project, “RKadia” by theRunawayKiiing, boasts Alternative Music and his distinct alternative singing style in a collection of tracks which expertly showcase this subgenre of Hip Hop.

For Mayer, who is one and a half years sober, recovery from drugs and alcohol had been a big part of his life, and the new project takes listeners through his emotional journey. By releasing the “RKadia” album in three parts, the artist maximizes his audience’s attention span. Released on July 1st, the first installment, titled “Pt. 1: Pain” lays the foundation to communicate and bring out different emotions.

“Pt. 1: Pain,” telling the story of where Mayer has been, leads off with the banging Florida Trap sounding track, “Slow Mo.” Written while the artist was angry and processing his feelings about being used in a relationship, the fun and catchy song also includes humor and angst. It’s an empowering track that people can also dance to. The other two tracks titled “Come Back” and “The Moment,” are more thoughtful and emotional journeys.

Nearly ready for release, the follow up, “Pt. 2: Power” will be aggressive and invigorating. Telling how he got through his challenges, this release will have a really strong, almost mosh pit vibe with more Rap. Talking about how he is living life after overcoming difficulties, the final chapter, “Pt. 3: Pleasure” verges more on a fun, Pop sound, emitting optimism in a relatable fashion. Speaking about the project as a whole, Mayer said “It’s my way of communicating to people where they are, and then bringing them through the whole process and journey.”

A diverse set of experiences has made Mayer very good at a variety of skills which he has put to use in a number of different settings. Originally from the Rocky Mountains and raised in Los Angeles, Mayer has worked as an engineer/producer with leading professionals in New York City, Washington D.C., and Tampa. He has also played nearly every type of music imaginable, including Hip Hop, Reggae Dub, Psychedelic Rock and Screamo Metal in cities across the country. He moved to San Diego for artistic inspiration where he writes and performs his own music as well as collaborates with other producers. Mayer has the background and talent to sit down, make a beat, write and record a song quickly and professionally from scratch while fusing together the best of what he likes about different genres. “In each one of my songs,” Mayer said, “somebody hears something different that they like.”

Reminiscent of a Utopian society, the “RKadia” project portrays the light and dark of a runaway kingdom in three unique parts, each promising to evoke powerful emotions while entertaining listeners. Articulate and creative, Mayer writes lyrics that are meaningful and relevant to modern human challenges and the triumph over difficult obstacles, turning temporary weaknesses and bitter darkness into eternal strengths.

Nicólas Soul - Spiderman

Nicólas Soul – Spiderman

NuRenaissance Media Co. set to launch groundbreaking two-part album ‘REDD & bluu’ on July 23

KNOXVILLE, TN – One of the most iconic moments in cinematic history is when the main character of the film “The Matrix” is offered the choice between truth or self-deception. He can choose to remain ignorant of the truth of his life – which would reveal horrors almost beyond imagination – by taking the blue pill, or he can choose to embrace the reality of his life and fight back against the evils of the world. It is a Pop culture moment that has gone on to become a defining moment referenced by millions around the world.

On July 23, NuRenaissance Media Co. will launch a new two-part project that takes its cue from this Pop culture reference. Dubbed “REDD & bluu,” the two-part EP features artists Nick Aluoch and Christopher Collier who founded the independent label in March 2017. Their Knoxville-based media company is composed of urban artists, photographers and directors, and operates under the mission of pushing new boundaries in music and film. This new project is the perfect example of how these two young entrepreneurs and artists are using Pop culture to challenge pre-conceived notions about the world and inspire music lovers to take bold action toward positive change.

“The red pill/blue pill concept is used on this project to showcase how everything is not what it seems in America,” said Aluoch who goes by the stage name Nicolas Soul. “That idea is exemplified by the allure of opportunity and its goal to mask systemic corruption and racism. Our media collective exists to advocate for creativity and individuality in music and film. All proceeds from the project will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund & Color of Change charities.”

The debut single from the project is a song called “spiderman” which Nicolas Soul said serves as an allegory for the loss of childhood innocence. Currently available across all streaming platforms, the song’s lo-fi Hip Hop vibes are a perfect introduction to the full album, which is set to release on July 23.

Originally from Kenya, Nicolas Soul moved to the U.S. and didn’t have a lot of friends. His emotional outlet became music, and though it started as something to listen to when he was alone, it grew to become his life’s passion. What started as an inspiration from the impressive lyricism of Eminem has grown into a more mature and expansive set of influences that include artists such as Lauryn Hill, Kanye West and Childish Gambino, among others. His signature sound features both singing and rapping, and true to his stage name, he wants to bring music that will always be honest and soulful.

“The most important thing for me in making music is to always tell my truth and what I’m currently experiencing or what is happening in the world around me,” he said. “What sets me apart is that I’m always going to remain true to music being an outlet to getting out my frustrations. A lot of people don’t have a connection to music because of how over-saturated the industry is, but my truth is gonna shine no matter what. Our truth is gonna shine through that’s why we started the NuRenaissance. It’s like the Harlem renaissance but in 2020, with people who do art and music. We want to push for a renaissance movement in the world, and I want to be one of the influential figures in that movement. I have a big goal and passion for attaining those goals.”

Xwavy - Call Me

Xwavy – Call Me

Summer jam ‘Call Me’ shows of bouncy side of Canadian artist Xwavy

EDMONTON, CANADA – The hot new single from Canadian Hip Hop artist Xwavy is the perfect song to illustrate his unique sound and style. “Call Me” is literally, as his name describes: WAVY. The fast-paced auto-tune sound is bouncy in ways that will make it impossible for listeners to avoid getting up on their feet and moving to the music. It’s the perfect kind of summer jam, and it’s set to put this up-and-coming young artist on the map.

Hailing from Edmonton, Canada, Darius Clarke – AKA Xwavy – is the kind of artist whose unique perspective and myriad of life experiences have helped to create a truly original sound. Born in Liberia, this half-Nigerian half-Liberian immigrant moved to Canada when he was 8 years old to escape civil war in the country. He grew up learning about music and first started rapping at age 17 when he was introduced to the recording process by a cousin who has a home studio in his basement. Five years later, Xwavy was making waves in the industry, signing his first contract deal with Wyse Artist Management. He soon after signed Wadley Saint-Juste as his personal manager, and over the past couple of years has been slowly building a fan following that spans the globe.

“Call Me” is his most recent track and it is the kind of song that is guaranteed to turn heads and make people sit up and pay attention. Telling the story of a guy trying to get with a girl who is out of a toxic relationship, “Call Me” uses lyrics and situations that many others in the world have experienced throughout their lives.

“She’s scared of moving on even though she wants to,” Xwavy said of the girl in the song. “So this guy keeps trying to get with her – calling and texting – but she keeps saying she’s stuck in the other relationship. It has a laid-back chill type of tone, kind of an R&B vibe but with a little bit of excitement to it. It’s relaxing without having too much hype.”

Xwavy said he loved the process of discovery when writing the song – something that drives him when he writes all of these songs. He said he likes to experiment with a lot of different sounds and styles, and he has a great voice that can soar over verses while also exhibiting the ability to spit bars and show off a well-groomed flow.

“I just like to experiment with different things and see where the creativity takes me,” he said. “Mostly, my favorite stuff is to create is Hip Hop and R&B. What I ultimately want people to get from my music is to know that through all their ups and downs, they can still make it. When I was growing up, there was so much stuff going on in my life. I had to go through a lot of things and I experienced things that other kids never had to. I got kicked out of school and then out of my parents’ house. Life was an up-and-down cycle for me. All the things going on in my life were wavy like a roller coaster – good then bad, then good then bad – just non-stop up and down. But that helped me learn and get to know myself, and I want my music to show that to other people. At the end of the day, life might be a roller coaster but if you stick firm and go through those bad times and good times, things will end up real and better.”

Ti Akiel - Just Left Me

Ti Akiel – Just Left Me

Ti Akiel offers introspective reflection of reality with new album ‘Samson’s Delilah’

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – One of the most powerful lyricists to hit the Hip Hop market in recent years is an artist from North Minneapolis known as Ti Akiel. His new album, “Samson’s Delilah” is a tour-de-force of clever Hip Hop riffs paired with smooth R&B tracks, all of which showcase this fast-rising artist’s ability to cut deep with lyrics that are equal parts relatable and cutting edge.

Currently available across all streaming platforms, “Samson’s Delilah” uses eight songs to take listeners on a journey through the ups and downs of relationships. Akiel said he was inspired to create the album after having gone through his first real adult heartbreak.

“We all start our relationship experiences when we’re younger and we don’t really know what’s going on,” he said. “But there’s always that moment in life when you lose something you’ve really invested in and thought would last for a long time, if not forever. It’s the first time you go through an adult heartbreak. This album is me walking through that whole experience. It was my first time experiencing that and music has always been my form of expression and therapy. I’m trying to find strength in vulnerability and to navigate all that comes with that, and it all came together in the form of this project.”

Over the course of his young career, Akiel has been known to create music that navigates between introspective narratives, life realities and the ever-changing pursuit of growth and happiness. Easily weaving together Hip Hop and R&B, Akiel has created a signature style that allows him to tell his story of overcoming adversity while staying resilient in the process. And although his music is what he’s most known for, his work in the community is what he’s most passionate about. Most recently, he started a nonprofit organization called Give N Grow which aims to restore equality to marginalized communities around the Twin Cities.

“I got together with people I know and organized donation drives for people affected by the pandemic and riot situations,” he said. “I’m from North Minneapolis but there’s a lot of destruction going on the other side of the city, which is a low income area. They weren’t getting resources that they needed so we started a donation drive. We raised $20,000 and an additional $80,000 worth of supplies. I care deeply about being in the community and helping in whatever ways I can.”

Akiel said that as his career as a musician grows, he hopes to be able to continue to invest in his community in greater ways. His music never neglects the lyrical element that made him fall in love with Hip Hop, but it is often contrasted with catchy melodies, hard-hitting 808s, and ever-changing production styles. His debut single, “Just Left Me” is a perfect example of this. He describes it as an upbeat radio vibe with a catchy autotune sound that will make people want to get up and move when they hear it.

Big Foldjaz - Open Wide

Big Foldjaz – Open Wide

Big Foldjaz blends influences from Chicago, Atlanta and Texas into original new sound

HOUSTON, TX – Houston-based rapper Big Foldjaz is a divine blend of bars and drip, which he puts on full display with his two latest singles “Open Wide” and “Kill Us Again.” These songs are perfect for the kind of brand he’s trying to create – what he calls DripDeck, which stands for Dedicated Respected Independent Presidents.

Born and raised in Chicago while also spending much of his early 20s in Atlanta, this now Texas-based rapper blends multiple musical influences to create a truly one-of-a-kind sound. He takes the energy of each of the cities in which he’s lived and melds them together into something truly original.

“I’m the best part of waking up,” he said, nodding to his stage name. “I’ve got the kind of Twista vibe and energy of Chicago rappers, and I have a lot of the Atlanta swag and finesse with my flow, and living in Houston gives me a lot of soul. Add that to the fact that I write music that’s appealing with deep lyrics, and you get a whole different energy than anything else out there right now. I’m a good blend of all those things with style and catchy hooks and real lyrics. I grind like coffee beans.”

With “Open Wide,” Big Foldjaz takes a comical approach to waving goodbye to past wrongs. With a sarcastic wink and explicit lyrics, Big Foldjaz dedicates the song to his probation officer while at the same time creating an energetic anthem that listeners can use as a chant for situations in their own life in which they want to tell someone to “suck my dick.”

“It’s about somebody who doesn’t give a fuck,” he said. “It’s about being a rebel, but in a funny and comical way. The video will be funny, as well.”

“Kill Us Again” on the other hand, is more of a current hit that touches on the continuous racial inequalities that have been brought to light again in the wake of the George Floyd killing. He said it’s a song that will remind people of Tupac with its raw energy and a message that cuts to the core while being necessary for today’s society.

At the end of the day, that’s the kind of music Big Foldjaz wants to be known for – the kind of music that connects with people in deep ways and says something that makes them come back for more.

“I’m trying to touch the crowd,” he said. “I’m making real rock star shit and I’m trying to push my sound to different audiences. One of the audiences I’m trying to hit right now is that crowd of aggressive skateboarders. I’m trying to push my sound to that skater crowd because I think these songs fit that group. But that’s just one kind of music I create. I’m always talking some gangster shit, too. I’m gangsta, I’m a player … I’m a little bit of everything.”

MyFolk - Ball Don't Lie

MyFolk – Ball Don’t Lie

South Georgia Hip Hop group MyFolk drops hot new track ‘Ball Don’t Lie’

SOUTH GEORGIA – Almost every basketball player who has ever played the sport knows that if you do something inappropriate on the court, Karma dictates that you’re not likely to make very many shots. The “Ball Don’t Lie,” as the saying goes, is both the sentiment and the title of a new single from Southern Georgia Hip Hop trio MyFolk.

Currently available across all streaming platforms, “Ball Don’t Lie” is a mid-tempo swaggy song that uses basketball metaphors to illustrate the life experiences that sometimes lead to difficult situations. It’s a song about bad choices and the consequences that come thereafter but done in such a way that it perfectly showcases the unique sound and style of this fast-rising group from the South.

MyFolk is a tight-knit trio made up of cousins Marc Ross and Kleif Bussey, who go by the stage names Candyman and Kalico. The third member of the group is Kalico’s best friend Demetrius AKA FieldBoi. The group has been refining its sound and expanding its reach for more than a decade, releasing three mixtapes and taking over the underground scene. Their releases of “The Resume,” “2 For Da Money” and “NFL (No Fat Lady)” have reached national acclaim thanks to their groundbreaking hard-hitting rhymes, heavy beats and dynamic shifting flow.

“Our lyrics are what really sets us apart,” Kalico said. “Everybody else in Hip Hop seems to be picking up the same vibe and lingo, but we got our own lingo. We always have. And it keeps evolving. That’s what we want our music to be known for, that originality. We got multiple sounds and avenues. We never follow one sound and we can write and make music about any subject or any genre. We just try to be limitless. If you put on a beat, we can make anything.”

That ability to make such high-quality music has brought them to the attention of music insiders, and in recent years, the group has been able to perform at such high-profile clubs as Throwbacks and Club Crucial in Atlanta, Club Rozay, Fountain Inn, and The Martin Twin Theatre in Douglas, Georgia, just to name a few.

Now with the release of “Ball Don’t Lie,” the group is excited to show their fanbase a visceral and impressive illustration of their new sound. Kalico said it’s a song that should be essential for every Hip Hop fan.

“When you’re in the South, people are always using the term ‘MyFolk’ to refer to their group of people,” Kalico said. “When we make music, we always say ‘Hit ‘em in the mouth, Folk!’ because we know our music is gonna make an impact. That’s what this song will do. People are gonna really dig it.”

In addition to “Ball Don’t Lie,” MyFolk is preparing to drop a six-song EP called “200 Proof” later this year.

Topnotch772 - We Made It ft. Beanie Sigel & JP

Topnotch772 – We Made It ft. Beanie Sigel & JP

Former NFL hopeful uses pain to fuel passion for music

VERO BEACH, FL – Inspiring the world is what Alonzo Phillips was made for, and his latest single “We Made It” is the perfect example of that. Featuring fellow artists Beanie Sigel and JP, “We Made It” is the perfect blend of energy and passion underneath lyrics that are timely and necessary for the current state of the world.

“We’re putting some positive messages out there,” said Phillips, better known by his stage name TopNotch772. “Beanie’s verse talks about how he feels with what’s going on in the world today and it’s a little more mellow, and my verse comes at the same thing from a different perspective but it’s a little more upbeat. The overall message is that we’re gonna make it. And that’s the kind of music I want to make – positive messages that people can listen to when they’re going through something and they’re on the edge and they feel like giving up. My music is inspirational, uplifting and a little bit of street at the same time.”

Those inspirational messages come from a life filled with a lot of pain. TopNotch first started rapping as an outlet for his emotions after his father was robbed and shot in the head. He and his father were very close and the loss was abrupt and deeply painful. He said he couldn’t turn to his mother during that time, either as she was addicted to drugs and wasn’t present. But Rap was just a side hustle that helped him emote, his real passion was football … and he was good at it. So good, in fact, that he was invited to the Buffalo Bills professional team’s minicamp. Though he didn’t make the 52-man roster, he knew he had the kind of elite athleticism to succeed at a high level and he pursued it hard … until yet another tragedy struck.

While practicing with his professional indoor football team, he went up for a pass and came down wrong and snapped his tibia and fibula in half. The compound fracture had bones sticking out through his skin. The inner pain of his past was now mirrored by very real physical pain, and the two bounced off each other as he soon learned that his career as an athlete was over.

“Pain is the reason I want to rap and share my story,” he said. “I know there is someone going through similar things to what I went through, and I know I can help them through music.”

When he turned his full attention to music, TopNotch started gaining traction and making waves in the industry. He opened a show for Trick Daddy at a club in Cocoa Beach, Florida and has also opened for Yolanda Adams, Detrick Hadden, Tye Tribbet, Jessica Reedy and Fred Hammond. His previous single, “We Gotta Move” was on heavy rotation on multiple radio stations, followed quickly by more radio play from his song “Ain’t Nobody Mad.” Now with “We Made It,” TopNotch hopes to continue that success and expand his fanbase on more of a global level.

“I’m never going down again,” he said, nodding to the meaning of his stage name. “No matter what it takes, I’m gonna stay up. I’ve lost people and I know how that feels, but instead of getting angry, I started writing songs, then doing shows, then next thing you know I’m opening for people like Trick Daddy. What got me started was pain and not wanting to find different unhealthy outlets for that pain, and I’m not gonna let anything bring me back down.”

Layn - d.t.r.

Layn – d.t.r.

Sultry voiced artist Layn drops sexy new EP ‘After Midnight’

ATLANTA, GA – Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for most people in the world over the past year, but up-and-coming Atlanta-based artist Layn has seen more changes than most other people.

The former Navy helicopter technician finished her service last year and in the time since has moved twice, ended a toxic relationship, gotten married, had multiple jobs and is expecting her first child. And in the middle of all that, she put together a five-track EP that so perfectly showcases her sultry smooth vocals that already people in the industry are turning their heads and it hasn’t even been released yet. Slated to drop across all streaming platforms on July 16, “After Midnight” is the perfect kind of chill vibe to pair with the exploration of all the crazy that has happened in the world over the past year – told through the lens of her own personal up-and-down experiences.

“My life turned around a lot last year – like a lot of other people – and a lot of crazy and important things happened,” she said. “This project is a nod to that place when you’re up past midnight because your brain won’t shut off and you’re just lying there thinking about what’s going on. I’ve been through a lot of things in my life, and I want to be relatable to people of all ages and demographics who have also been through tough situations. Hopefully, my music will help them to know they’re not alone. Music is a release for me, and I would want anyone who hears what I do to feel that same type of way.”

Layn said the five tracks on the EP take listeners on a journey that goes in chronological order of her own experiences. It starts with the single “Lullaby,” which immediately shows off her rich R&B and soulful voice as she laments the loss of a long-time boyfriend while reconnecting with an old friend who could become more. She calls it her “last goodbye and coming back home” song.

That’s followed by “Always U” which further explores the budding relationship with the old friend and the surprise she has at recognizing stronger feelings she’d been repressing for a long time. The slower, laid-back vibe of the song pairs perfectly with her sultry voice in ways that evoke the sexiness of a budding romantic relationship. As she comes to realize how she feels for this man, listeners can put themselves in her shoes and remember their own love stories.

“Worst Way” is the third song on the EP and brings an appropriate level of energy as Layn infuses elements of Pop alongside the Hip Hop rhythms. Inspired by an argument she had with her former boyfriend, the energy of the song is bouncy and will invite anyone listening to get up and move. Then comes “D.T.R.” which uses a quasi-Reggae/Latin beat to bring the journey to the tipping point of Layn’s new relationship. Featuring her now husband Don as a rapper on the track, the song’s swag illustrates the sheer joy of finally discovering that perfect person in your life…  The beat was provided by “Philly P on Tha Trackk”

“I’m happy now,” she said. “Things are going really well. This guy who sat behind me in class in high school and gave me a note asking if I wanted his number is now my husband, even though we had moved on from each other and both moved around for the past eight years. The joy of finding each other again and knowing that this person – who has always been there through everything and always stayed connected with me – is the one person that I know will always be Down To Ride.”

The final song on “After Midnight” is called “Free” and it brings listeners back to her sultry soulful sound with a fusion of her unique blend of R&B and Pop. Her journey has brought her to a place where she can finally feel free to be herself, and this song – which showcases her ability as a freestyle rapper – perfectly illustrates that. Her sultry voice intertwines perfectly with her aggressive rapid-fire flow in ways that will make listeners hit repeat time and time again.

Jamaal Marvel - Give It To Me

Jamaal Marvel – Give It To Me

Jamaal Marvel releases timely new dance track
‘Give It To Me’

SUWON, SOUTH KOREA – The only thing better than a dream is living it… And though the transition from the world of dreams to reality may be difficult, those meant to dream will continue to dream, and those meant to live it … will.

Jamaal Marvel is no longer dreaming. This rising star who hails from Virginia has a creative mind that finds its way into telling stories across multiple mediums – from novels to art to music. His music in particular has been drawing some attention of late, and his newest release “Give It To Me” is sure to put him on the map globally.

The up-tempo dance track is the perfect song for today’s troubled world. With lyrics that inspire listeners to find healthy outlets for their stress, “Give It To Me” is the kind of groove that’s not only fun to listen to but also motivational.

“People are going through so much on a daily basis,” Jamaal said. “There’s just wave after wave of stress – from relationships or jobs or children or debt or whatever. We’re all trying to overcome and survive. This is a song that shows the importance of stress release in order to get through and stay above water and control life. It gives people some examples of ways to do this in a fun way that many people can relate to. Basically, it’s about a person who is going through turmoil but is persevering despite what they’re experiencing, and at the end of the day, they can go out and grab a drink and go dancing and have fun. So it’s upbeat, it’s fun, and it’s uplifting in a way that promotes that kind of stress release.”

Drawing inspiration from every decade of music – specifically the Funk of the 80s and the Heart-and-Vibe of the 90s – Jamaal continuously pushes his creativity to levels greater than before. This rapper/singer/songwriter/producer blends the best of all that is loved in Hip Hop, R&B, Funk and Pop into a sound that defines the word unique.

“I’m a singer first, but I also rap,” he said. “When I make a song, a lot of times I think of whom I’d like to collaborate with and I try to make that kind of sound. So I think about J.Cole and Mariah Carey and Doja Cat making a track together – what would that sound like? I think it would sound great, so I try to make something like that.”

While serving in the Air Force over the past decade, Jamaal has also been slowly developing his career as a musician. In 2012 while stationed at Luke Air Force Base, he began touring with a small group and performing at local venues. He released his first album, “Love & Imperfections” in 2013, and in 2015, he co-founded the fusion group Half Black, becoming its lead vocalist. The group’s album, “Evolution” debuted in 2016. In 2017 and 2018, Jamaal began collaborating with EDM artist Cadmium, creating singles that today have reached more than two million views on YouTube. This year, he has already released two singles – “Sucker” and “Future Love” – both of which have gotten some heavy play on streaming platforms.

This year Jamaal has been busy creating even more music as a solo artist while also putting together a larger body of work. With two albums down and a second solo album set to be released in fall 2020, Jamaal Marvel is living his dream.

“We are what we do, not what we say we want to do,” he said.

Blaq Pyrates - Steady Growth

Blaq Pyrates – Steady Growth

Hip Hop soul group Blaq Pyrates drops new single Steady Growth

CORDELE, GA – One of the hottest street performing groups in the country has flown under the radar for the past few years, but with the launch of their new single “Steady Growth,” they’re set to launch into global recognition.

The group is known as Blaq Pyrates, and they have been performing in major cities all over the South and Mid-West for nearly two decades. Originally known as the Trapville Pyrates, the group has won multiple awards over the years and have performed in some of the country’s most famous venues. In 2016, they were the winners of the Sony Music Distribution Competition Tour, followed by winning three Independent Tone Awards in 2017 including Artist of the Year in both the Pop and R&B/Soul categories as well as Band of the Year in the Alternative Rock category. They also won Hip Hop/Soul Group of the Year in 2018 for their single “Problems.” Their success gave them opportunities to perform in places such as WME Music Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, Liquid Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia, Daiquiri Lounge in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the South By Southwest Mansion Party in Austin, Texas, among others. Blaq Pyrates also appeared on the Legendary Khujo Goodie’s album ‘Feed The Lions’ Volume One.

The group has fluctuated from as many as six members at one point to its current lineup of four artists. It was founded by Ali “Obawale” Rahman in 2003. Joining him were his two brothers, Amin “Obayemi” Rahman and Karim “Obatunji” Rothwell. The three performed under the stage names Fetty Cash, Rasta Rudd, and Marty MacFly, respectively. Their cousin Hayward Hollingsworth, AKA Koolgi Kid, joined them as well. They changed their name to Blaq Pyrates in 2007, choosing to adopt the acronym that stands for “Brothers Linked Amongst Qualifications, Protect Your Riches Alias Through Extreme Status” and have since performed under this name.  In 2009, Koolgi Kid left the Pyrates to start another group & was replaced by neighborhood friend, Michael Childs, named Nephew Shawty. In 2010, Jeffrey Alexander, named Jonny Papez, was added to the group’s roster but would later leave in 2018 to pursue other ventures. In 2015, Kendale Gibson, named York ILL, became the last member to join the group creating the group’s current four member lineup as follows: Rudd, York, MacFly, and Nephew. In the fall of 2017, the group incorporated their own independent record label Blaq Pyrate Nation, LLC naming Fetty Cash as the CEO. Unfortunately, in the fall of that same year, Fetty Cash lost his life in the streets of Cordele due to gun violence. Since his untimely death, the group has created a fashion line as a tribute to their CEO and lost member, called Zódoq Mebenki™, named after Fetty’s alter ego “Zodoq Banks”.

Their steady rise to superstardom over the past three years has brought them to July 2020 and the release of their new single “Steady Growth,” which features independent artist Vigilany of New World Renaissance. The music video for the song was filmed in New York City’s Times Square approximately one month before the devastating COVID-19 outbreak.

“It’s a song with a classic Hip Hop beat and Trap undertones,” said Marty MacFly. “We consider ourselves a Hip Hop and Soul group, but this song has a little more hype and energetic feel to it. It definitely will, for sure, get you inspired. It’s the perfect song to showcase our progressive growth over time. It encompasses what we’re about and what we’ve been doing. The video with different shots throughout Times Square will definitely give people that feeling of energy and success.”

MacFly said the group is excited to see what the next decade will bring for them. As soon as it’s safe to do so, Blaq Pyrates will begin performing publicly again, and he promises that fans can expect more of the excellent sound they’ve been known for across the years while also bringing new energy and styles to the table.

“Our music is about pushing business, entrepreneurship, independent wealth, and the American value system of hard work and dedication,” MacFly said. “We have a new age type of sound with old school concepts. When you listen to us, you’re gonna hear something that sounds completely different than what’s out there, and you know when you see us — it’s going to be unique and eye-catching.”

Key$oul - Hop Out The Benz

Key$oul – Hop Out The Benz

Key$oul Releases A New Single “Hop Out The Benz” on ALL Digital Streaming Platforms!

Keiontae Alexander better known as Key$oul is a 25 year hip-hop artist out of Benton Harbor Michigan. Honesty is the name of the game for Key$oul, no smoke and mirrors, $oul wants you to see the pain, the struggle and ultimately the reward that comes from grinding in life.

Influenced by the hip-hop and R&B since his inception, it’s like destiny wanted $oul to begin creating his own art. In 2016, with the Internet in full swing and artists, both mainstream and independent seeing success, $oul wanted to throw his hat in the ring. However unlike some who jump into industry, Key$oul was more than ready and in fact excited about the work ahead.

Our Michigan hero spent the following years in the background, working, learning, grinding in an attempt to make it out. $oul says “I constantly focused on improving. I was at the studio, rain, sleet, or snow.” The hard work would pay off as Key$oul has two singles well over 22K plays with his “Wow Freestyle” closing in on 50K plays and this is just on Spotify alone.

The hard work behind the scenes is also what led to “Vibe With Me” a collaboration $oul did with Florida R&B singer Della Cruse. Key$oul wants listeners to walk away motivated and with the confidence that they can “accomplish anything” whether you’re starting from the bottom or starting over $oul believes you can make it to the top.
