ARTIST/ ALBUM REVIEW: Boonie Mayfield - Vaughn Solo 1st Edition

Rating: 8.5/10

Solomon Vaughn, aka Boonie Mayfield, aka Boon Doc, hails from Colorado, USA and rose to internet stardom by performing live Hip Hop beats on his MPC 1000 and sharing said performances on Youtube before doing so became a thing. Over the years, he matured as an artist, was robbed of almost all of his equipment and managed to re-emerge as a multi-instrumentalist who no longer depended on sampled material and instead created the type of music that beat-makers would dream of sampling. Unfortunately, not all of his fan base appreciated his progress. Despite the fact that his newer works showed a stepped improvement both technically and musically over his older works, his fan base shrank. Maybe it was because many of his fans were aspiring producers who got left behind in the wake of his progress.  Or maybe his shift towards more soulful music threw them off. Whatever the reason, Boonie stuck with his guns and re-emerged as one of the best, and most interesting Hip Hop producers/performers in the wider Hip Hop community today. - ondaflor.com

SONG REVIEW: Gabe - Down Low

Rating: 8.5/10

If you haven't heard of the name – it won't be  hard to forget – so get familiar with the artist known as 'Gabe' . The New Orleans bred, genius songwriter and multi cultural influenced artist drops off his single "Down Low" pending the release of his upcoming body of work, slated for later this year. 'Down Low' is built with club drums, hard snares, and synth rhythms and certainly appears as a nightlife favorite for women to enjoy on the dance floor. From a gentle strum, to a sudden raging chorus, and a punky megaphone-voice verse it finishes by doing a full circle, falling back on Gabe's relaxed but upbeat vocals.
There is no denying Gabe stands out from the crowd; and the  cover art for this single is a vivid pic of Gabe's image as well as vibe.

MIXTAPE REVIEW: Adam Lobb - Unfinished Business Part 4

Rating: 7/10

Adam Lobb, who's by way of Treneere, a residential estate in Penzance is an artist who has a vision and passion for music. Rhyming since 2006 he started the music group "Lobbdem Music Group" formally "Treneere Lobbdem" where he created his own home studio set up while recording songs dissing people and getting an audience to tune in. By then Adam started making more music about his life, experiences and more serious topics. Adam has been dropping countless mixtapes and remixes, building a consistency with the approach to put out a real project. Adam's style is hard, edgy, melodic with reminiscent of a 2003 50 Cent/ G unit era.  "Unifinished Business Pt.4" touches many topics of Adams childhood, current events, politics and self motivation. Standout joints include ""Long Way To Go" , "I Gave It All To You" & "Look At What You've Done" which touches on great subject matter  & innovative realness. All in all, "Unifinished Business Pt.4" is worth being listened to all the way through. Stream & Download Below

Artist/ EP Review: EarlRayDaOgre - The Manster EP

Rating: 7.5 / 10

Hip Hop Substance, dope beats, rhymes and innovative concepts is what the artist known as Earl Ray Da Orge Brings on "The Manster EP"

"The Manster EP" was produced by Dj Drop The Mic(From Canada) and Tears of The Night was produced by K. Anthony(From Cali). This project shows what happens when a Mad Scientist creates a creature to cleanse the world of watered down and horrible music. The Manster EP tells many stories about being black as well as everyday life we may go through. Earl Ray Da Ogre gives a dope insight to life on Conspiracy featuring Don Claude of ZNMG. The first single Counterfeit featuring Crim Cayne shows the south still got some lyricist roaming around. Dallas Texas stand up as the Dallas Zu mad man takes you all on another Lyrical Thriller.

Mixtape/ Artist Review: Some Guy - Random Human Male

Rating: 9.5/10

First off, let me say hip hop is definitely back on the forefront, especially with contributors like the dope, talented producer/beatmaker named "Some Guy" who by the way hails from Queens, NY. Its no secret that his musical influences are from the likes of greats like: J Dilla, Kanye West, Timbaland, The Neptunes, 9th Wonder&  DJ Premier to name a few.  He's no new kid off the block either, and in fact this dope beatsmith was recently featured in the Fall 2014 edition of Mr. Dreamz Magazine. He's also collaborated with Chris Noxx of Tha Piecemakerz, and is currently working on projects with Lee On The Beats of We The Best Music Group/Amazinz Music Group. Some Guy has been at it for some time now, making beats since 2010 and plans to turn his passion into livelihood with a strong confidence about 2015 and whats to emerge. His sound is dope and innovatively on point when it comes to different elements and concepts musically. Take a listen and peep the dope instrumental tape "Random Human Male" Below

EP/ Artist Review: Optimiztiq - Flashback

Rating: 6/10

Alex McDonald (born October 24, 1990), better known by his stage name Optimiztiq (pronounced optimistic), is an American rapper, record producer, and song writer from Placerville, CA. He is best known for his fast rap, quirky analogies and positive approach on music. Writing music became his outlet at the age of 14 after his father died of a heart attack. He released his first record in 2007 and has released one record per year since. Kurupt, former vice president of Death Row Records says “Optimiztiq is a sleeper”.
He graduated with honors from Pinnacle Collage for sound engineering and audio mastering in 2010 and founded his independent record label “Chakra Sound” in 2013. He has shared the stage with many well established headliners such as Tech N9ne, Snoop Dogg and Too $hort to name a few. After opening for Snoop Dogg, Sacramento Press said “Y’all keep an eye out for this one right here. He’s a white MC from the country kickin’ butt”. After gaining a buzz off of his 2013 release “Mouthin’ Off”, an album made with only his mouth. He just released his 6th album “Flashback”. A themed record which uses samples of music from different eras as the foundation of every track and is raising eyebrows in the underground music scene.
